KSHC Mens 1st Team Earn Promotion

After 22 League games, and 106 goals scored, K Sports 1st XI have earned promotion to Kent Open Premier A for the 2018/19 season. This makes it back to back promotions for the side, following the change to K Sports HC and the move back home to K Sports Cobdown. A 17 game undefeated streak helped the side, skippered by Neil Mitchell, to second place in the league, on goal difference. It did all come down to the last game of the season, where three points were needed to secure second place, which the side managed, clocking up an impressive 3-1 victory at home.

After the game, Captain Neil Mitchell was over the moon and said “It’s fantastic to have achieved what we set out to do as a team and a club, at the start of the season. On the first game of preseason we talked about doing the basics well, and working harder than anyone we played against. We’d started the season with a good foundation, but this season the guys have really bought into the collective ideas and worked incredibly hard as a team to achieve what we have. Our move back to K Sports Cobdown in November 2017 added fuel to the fire in our game and lead us to a 17 game unbeaten streak!”.

Well Done KSHC M1s!!

KSHC Marathon Hockey & Family Day – 12th May 2018

Following the sad news of the passing of our friend, son, brother, husband, father and true Cobdown man, Captain Robert Brown last November, KSHC are running a Charity & Pitch event in his memory. We are working to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, considering the fantastic support they provided Rob and his family, during his time with them.

We are going to be holding a Marathon 12 Hour Hockey session and Family Day, with 11-a-side games for Mens, Ladies and Mixed sides. We will also be running games and sessions for the Juniors and local schools. This will take place on our new pitch at K Sports Cobdown, which Rob was a huge supporter of and longed to see a pitch at “Cobdown”, a club he was a member of, along with the whole Brown Family, for a very long time. Unfortunately, Rob never got to play on it, so we wanted to run this event in his memory and raise funds at the same time.

KSHC Mens 2nd Team – League Champions!!!!

Kent open division 4 – League Champions 2017/18

After 18 League games, and 99 goals scored, K Sports 2 XI have been crowned champions of Kent Open Division 4 2017/18. On 11 occasions in 18 games, the team have scored 5 or more goals which has been spread through the side making them more dangerous in every game they have played. The team were aware that if they won their game, they would require a strong Sutton Valance team to drop points on the day to guarantee they were champions and they did. A 7-3 loss against Herne Bay meant that it was beyond doubt that K Sports 2 XI were Champions of the division.

After the game, Captain Andy Smith was over the moon and said “It’s fantastic to have achieved what we set out to do as a team, and a club, at the start of the season. On the first game of pre-season we talked about doing the basics well, and working harder than anyone we played against. We’d started the season with a good foundation left by previous captain Mike Newmarch, but this season the guys have really bought into my ideas and worked incredibly hard as a team to achieve what we have. We still have two games to be played that were snowed off, but we’ve achieved our original goal and loved every minute which is the main thing”.

It was evident Andy was an incredibly proud captain as he walked off the pitch surrounded by his team of champions, celebratory champagne in hand and all beaming with pride.

Well Done 2s!!

K Sports (Cobdown) HC gains England Hockey ClubMark Accreditation

K Sports (Cobdown) HC has become one of the first clubs in the country, to achieve the revised club accreditation – England Hockey Clubmark. It is a great achievement and a huge step forward in the development and growth of the Club. This also sees the completion of one of our key, five year development plan goals!

Achieving England Hockey Clubmark is an important step in ensuring our club operates to a set of core criteria and has good practices in place to ensure that we can deliver quality hockey in a sustainable and vibrant club environment.

What are the benefits of achieving ClubMark?

  • The development of clear goals and objectives can be communicated to all Club members and the wider community. This highlights our Club’s focus and ambition for the future and provides a solid foundation for our growth
  • The analysis of the current workforce ensures all training is up to date and the Club is operating at its best
  • Adopting more organised systems and structures will help the Club run more efficiently and effectively
  • Addressing issues such as equality and child protection should increase parents confidence when choosing the correct Club for their child and can be assured that their children belong to a safer Club
  • Updating policies, training and systems shows confidence and increased productivity. This in turn attracts schools and local authorities that must ensure quality and child friendly systems and procedures
  • ClubMark will assist us to have strategies for recruitment of new members and by striving to achieve higher standards means we are more likely to attract more members and build a sustainable future
  • Some leisure operators and local authorities may give priority and at times discount to ClubMark accredited Clubs
  • ClubMark provides recognition for high quality Clubs
  • Members can be sure our club is a well-managed Club, striving to offer the best in coaching and sports development
  • England Hockey ClubMark is designed to be a minimum operating standard for clubs to achieve to ensure they are functioning properly. It is a tool for clubs to check that they have the basics in place.

K Sports Hockey Club agree a club and pitch sponsorship deal with a local direct marketing company group

England and Kent Hockey Affiliated K Sports Hockey Club announces the signing of a club and pitch sponsorship agreement with local specialist direct marketing group Avalon Produce. A true leader in their field, Avalon Produce Limited, established in 2015, is a “direct” marketing group focusing on creating value for their suppliers and customers on a sustainable basis by offering the essential expertise to drive growth, lead change and push boundaries. The sponsorship has enabled K Sports Hockey Club to commence their Junior Academy project, with a view to making the sport of hockey available to all school ages and the community. As part of the sponsorship deal Avalon Produce will be advertising at the new hockey pitch, located at K Sports Cobdown. K Sports Hockey Club currently has within its youth and junior section 20 to 30 members, but the project aims to create teams between the age groups under 7’s up to the under 18’s playing throughout Kent and the South.

K Sports Hockey Club Chairman Mike Newmarch said:
“I am delighted that Avalon Produce has agreed to sponsor K Sports Hockey Club and the pitch. This sponsorship has enabled us to kick-start our Junior Academy project, which will hugely benefit the local community and the club. I would like to thank Ashley Bernhard of Avalon Produce for his agreement to sponsor the club and pitch. This is a fantastic base for us to build from, capitalising on the magnificent new facility that has been constructed at K Sports Cobdown.”

Ashley Bernhard, Managing Director of Avalon Produce added
“This sponsorship at K Sports Hockey Club will give them a solid starting ground for the Junior Academy and make the kids and community who get involved part of something that is very special. The junior structure in place at K Sports Hockey Club gives the youngsters an opportunity to develop their hockey skills and with teamwork helps them to mature as young people. Through this sponsorship I fully support the aims of K Sports Hockey Club in providing positive opportunities to many youngsters; some of whom will develop into very good hockey players and who knows a place in the County or National squads.”
