On a rainy Saturday afternoon, K Sports welcomed similarly positioned in the table Folkstone, ready for a tough match following their previous close game with them earlier in the season.

K Sports pressed from the start, and with seamless passing up the field from the defence from Austin, to Percival and the two Fowler sisters, where Jo Fowler was able to pass the ball into Karen Swinson waiting patiently in the D to slot the ball past the oppositions goalkeeper within the opening ten minutes.

Folkstone were determined to equalise and therefore pushed hard against the K Sports midfield and were finding themselves breaking through and putting Wilson, Austin and Payne under pressure along the backline, but were unable to penetrate through into real danger of scoring.

As the first half came to an end, Folkstone found themselves on a quick break from their defence, finding themselves in a one on one situation with keeper Dani Nichols, who with adrenaline pumping made a spritely run out the edge of the D, sliding along the floor to intercept the ball and prevent the opposition finding themselves on the score sheet. Unfortunately, despite it being an impressive show, keeper Nichols had to be substituted at half time due to a knee injury, meaning that Clark stepped into the goalkeeper goal to marshal the goal throughout the second half.

Folkstone put K Sports under increasing pressure throughout the second half, making it more challenging for K Sports to protect their precious one-nil advantage. Wings Shona McAllan and Charlie Frampton were sitting wide looking for the fast breaks to the forward line, with Sharon McAllan, Kerry and Jo Fowler working hard in the middle between the attacking and defensive line.

Despite the hard work of the whole of the K Sports side to maintain the lead, Folkstone found themselves a questionable short corner which resulted in them slotting the ball into the goal to equalise. As the second half came to an end, Folkstone were able to slot a ball into the bottom left corner, just out of reach of player of the match and keeper Clark’s dive to the floor meaning they secured the 2-1 victory.
