2024/25 - Pitch & Tea Arrangements

You may be aware that K Sports HC lost the use of our Home ground at Cobdown.

The club has since been working relentlessly to secure the use of replacement pitches so that we can cover our Home game fixture schedule for the 2024-25 season.

The good news is that we have successfully entered into a contract with the following schools.

The Thomas Aveling School
Arethusa Rd
ROCHESTER
ME1 2UW

and

Invicta Grammar School for Girls (IGGS)
Huntsman Lane
MAIDSTONE
ME14 5DS

Both pitches are less than 7 miles distance from Cobdown. However, each has its own anomalies.

The Thomas Aveling pitch does not have floodlights, which means we cannot schedule later games there. IGGS is floodlit but 17% smaller than a standard-sized pitch.

Therefore, we intend that our M1, M2, and L1 matches will be located at the Thomas Aveling site, and our Grade 5 teams, M3, M4, L2, and L3, will be played at the IGGS site. However, when slots and umpire availability allow, we will schedule some Grade 5 games at The Thomas Aveling School.

This means that some of the Grade 5 teams' games over the whole season could be played on the smaller pitch at IGGS. We have made the ALMC and South East Hockey Board aware of our circumstances, and they are supporting our efforts to continue as K Sports HC at our temporary locations.

Our other challenge this season will be to provide teas. We intend to do our best, but neither site has a separate area to set this up easily. We are looking at options, and we will let each opposition know each week if there will be teas, as it is possible that it will be down to the players to cater for this.

Therefore, the current plan is that teas WILL NOT be provided unless we state otherwise on a weekly basis via the fixtures email we will send to each opposition Club. Under the rules, this does mean that the opposition may reciprocate or not by providing teas for our teams on the return match.

Many thanks for all the support and offers of help we have received so far, we very much appreciate it.
